5 Reasons Why Neil Young’s Current Tour Is One of His Best in Decades

“For the first time in his career, Young is being backed by group that grew up playing air guitar to “Down by the River” in their childhood bedrooms. These aren’t grizzled veterans that have been burned by Young time and time again, but twentysomethings that can’t believe their luck to be on this journey. Their unbridled enthusiasm is infectious and the entire crowd can feel it. Bassist Corey McCormick is often singing along to the songs when he’s nowhere near a microphone, and when Young makes the impromptu call to bust out something like “Cortez the Killer,” they seem just as thrilled as the audience.”

Neil Young plays “Vampire Blues” for the first time in 41 years

July 12th, 2015

Neil Young has been part of the musical landscape for well over 50 years. Later this year he will hit 70, and that’s what makes his more than two-and-a-half hour set at Red Rocks all the more impressive.

Young delivers a bit of unexpected magic on the final night of Summerfest

Young then brought out Promise of the Real, the band that plays on the new album. The quintet – featuring a pair of Willie Nelson’s sons – delivered vocal harmonies, pliant rhythms and dynamics that moved from sensitive folk to raging rock and roll.

Behind the Scenes of Neil Young’s New Protest Album ‘The Monsanto Years’ featuring Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real
Last September, just before he took the stage at Farm Aid, Neil Young was hanging out on his tour bus with Willie Nelson‘s sons Micah and Lukas. Out of nowhere, he asked if they wanted to come out and join him on “Rockin’ In The Free World” at the end of his set. “We were like, ‘Fuck yeah, dude,'” says Micah. “It felt great, like we’d been jamming together forever.”

JANUARY 8th, 2015 – We have an incredible announcement to make. Neil Young has honored us by asking us to accompany him on his next recording project! Unfortunately, this means we have to reschedule all of our shows in January except the 17th, but we promise we will make it up to you and in the meantime we will be creating some beautiful music for you all to enjoy. Just as a fun fact, the band actually started when Anthony Logerfo and I met at a Neil Young concert…and the name “Promise of the Real” comes from the lines of a Neil Young song called “Walk On”

“Some get stoned, some get strange…
Sooner or later, it all gets real..
Walk on..”

FARM AID 2013 in Saratoga Springs, NY is Sold Out.

POTR appreciates the support and looks forward to performing as part of another stellar line-up that includes Jack Johnson, Amos Lee, Kacey Musgraves, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Bahamas, JD & The Straight Shot, Pegi Young & The Survivors, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds.

“The Farm Aid benefit concert takes place each year thanks to the generosity of artists who donate their talent to raise awareness about the crucial need we have for family farmers on the land,” said Carolyn Mugar, executive director of Farm Aid. “We are thrilled to have an eclectic lineup this year that includes returning artists, as well as artists new to the Farm Aid stage. Together, Farm Aid concertgoers and artists are changing our food system!”

In addition to the all-star lineup, Farm Aid’s all-day music and food festival will spotlight family farm food and hands-on activities that will engage concertgoers in activities that give them a true understanding of why family farm agriculture is so important. Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN Concessions® brings family farm food center-stage, showcasing local, organic, sustainable, humanely-raised family farm ingredients. In Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN Village, concertgoers will have the chance to meet farmers, engage in hands-on food and farm activities, and learn about the ways family farmers are enriching our soil, protecting our water and growing our economy, in addition to bringing us good food for good health.

I Ain’t Mad Anymore Demos

Happy Full Moon Everyone!

We’ve been thinking a lot about you all and wanted to thank you for your support. So, in the spirit of the Full Moon, and to say “Thanks” we are releasing some new songs to you with no strings attached.

These songs are a collection of demos recorded last year at Henson Studios where the band was joined by friends and family Rick Rosas, Spooner Oldham, Micah Nelson & Willie Nelson. The session was really raw and soulful and had a beautiful vibe so rather than going through the production steps with these we felt it best to share them in their original forms.

We hope you enjoy these tracks and we’ll be back soon with new songs and a fully produced record soon. In the meantime we hope to see you on the road this summer.

Thanks for being part of our family and lots of love to you.
